The Not-So-Boring Letters of Private Nobody by Matthew Landis

Have you ever thought that something might be boring? That it isn’t worth trying at all? In the book, The Not-So-Boring Letters of Private Nobody, by Matthew Landis, the main character  Oliver, (a Civil War expert) has these exact thoughts when his teacher gives the class a assignment on his favorite subject in the world: the Civil War. But when Oliver gets assigned to the most “boring” soldier and partnered with a girl named Ella, who doesn’t care at all, he doesn’t know what to do.

But mainly in this book, Oliver has to deal with that he doesn’t know everything, and he needs to enjoy discovering. Once he starts his project, he realizes there’s more than what meets the eye for both Ella, and the soldier. He realizes Ella isn’t the slacker he thought, and she actually gets pretty into it. But why is she failing this class? And all her others? And what makes his assigned soldier so special?

I think anybody who enjoys realistic fiction would really like this book because it shows the basic struggles that are totally believable. Also the fact of the Civil War research is really fascinating. Anybody should pick this book up off the shelf because it’s like nothing I’ve ever read before. And what I mean by that is, it is in a format where you read the story, but also gain knowlege of the Civil War. And, I thought that was really cool. So read  The Not-So Boring Letters of Private Nobody, by Matthew Landis. You won’t regret it!
